Between 2014 and 2015, I succumbed to a devastating neurological condition, which resulted in partial paralysis of both arms, though much worse on the left side. This resulted in massive lifestyle changes, being unable to work, and greatly limiting my ability to make music. Over the course of the next 5 years, this gradually improved, leaving me with approximately 75% function of the left arm and almost complete recovery of motor function on the right. I was able to return to work, and to making music.

In September 2022, further neurological episodes occurred, affecting right arm and hand function. The effect was more profound than previously, with inability to raise my arm at all, and complete wrist drop. Again, my life changed drastically, being unable to work or drive a car. I needed help with basic domestic duties such as washing and dressing. Conventional music making became impossible, guitar, keyboard and drumming abilities very severely affected. Also, because of phrenic nerve damage, poor diaphragm control (and inability to use the fingers) made blowing instruments impossible. This profound enforced change in lifestyle became very difficult for me to deal with, and I sought the help of a counsellor to help me through these changes. It became clear that I was grieving for my old life, and one of the many suggestions to help me deal with this was to listen to my old music that I can no longer produce. We agreed that in order to progress, it might be fun to remix some of these old recording, hence this project.
